DP-100

Concept cars are great. Mostly because it is, after all, only a concept and you can really let your imagination go. Not only are concept cars fun to design by designers themselves, but its also great for us car fanatics to see what people come up with and what we can possibly see in the near future.

This latest Aston Martin concept is like something out of a sci-fi film – and it’s awesome.

Called the DP-100, Aston Martin actually teamed up with video game development studio, Polyphony Digital, to come up weigh the idea. And why a video game developer? Well, because the car will actually make its debut in a video game.

Say hello to the latest addition to Gran Turismo 6’s line up! (more…)

Bugatti Veyron Successor

We know that when Bugatti does something, the do it right. And that is exactly the case when it comes to the much anticipated successor to the  enigmatic Veyron.

There is no official confirmed date yet for the (yet to be named) Veyron successor, but reports are stating that we can expect to witness the magic in 2016. The automaker has not released a lot of information about the car, but slowly there are trickling more more and more details – and this latest bout of details has got us properly frothing.

According to a report by Autocar, the Veyron’s successor will house the same – albeit updated – engine as the Veyron. and to refresh your memory, that is a 8.0 liter, W16 engine. Some sources also claim that the Veyron’s successor will incorpated hybrid technology, something the existing Veyron lacks, of course.  (more…)

Hennessey planning updated, faster version of Venom GT

Venom F5

It seems that breaking the land speed record isn’t enough for Hennessey and their Venom GT. In fact, the car company has just announced plans for a updated, faster version of the Venom GT.

Talking to Top Gear, Hennessey confirmed the company’s plans to build a Venom GT that would make the existing GT look like small fry. And the name? They plan on calling this beast of a super car the Venom GT F5. We’re thinking the F stands for fast.

The main goal with the Venom GT F5 is to top the top speed of the Venom GT. Hennessey said that they would like to reach a top speed of a whopping 290mph (that’s 466,17 km/h to you and me). To refresh your memory, the top speed that the existing Venom GT reached was 270,4mph (or 435,16) – and with it, they took the land speed record.

Before Hennessey stepped onto the playground, the previous land speed record was held by Bugatti with their Veyron at 269,86mph (434,29km/h).  (more…)

Fiat reveals 500L Vans concept

vans

If ever there was a perfect vehicle for a passionate surfer or skater (besides the classic Volkswagen hippie van) then this Fiat concept is it.

Fiat partnered with Vans, the shoe company that is synonymous with everything skating and surfing, to bring us their concept for the ultimate skate/surf car. It features their 500L crossover car with (a lot) of Vans branding and motifs.

The radical concept car was officially unveiled at the Vans US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, California.

And while the car would probably be rad for a die-hard surfer/skater dude, fir us non beach or tar loving folk, it just kind of comes off as strange. Howver, the design is sort of cool and definitely gives us a feeling of summer loving.

The entire design of the car is clearly inspired by the Vans lifestyle manifesto: skate/surf or die.  (more…)

MB Future Truck

Hot of the heels of Google’s proposed self0driving car, Mercedes-Benz has revealed that they have a similar plan in mind. Except they’re thinking on a bigger scale – self-driving trucks.

The German automaker recently announced that their planned self-driving truck has in fact completed its first public road test. And the results were;t too shabby either.

Dubbed the ‘Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025′ (way to go on the originality there, Mercedes…) the truck actually successfully drove itself on a stretch of the A14 Autobahn in Magdeburg, Germany. This is the first time a truck was driven autonomously.

According to the company, the truck reached speeds of up to 85km/h, which is pretty impressive considering the fact that it’s a pretty big truck, driven completely by itself. (more…)

Honda Civic Tyoe R Concept

The Honda Civic Type R Concept was unveiled for the first time at the Geneva Auto Show earlier this year. However, today we get to see an exclusive, up close video of the Japanese automaker’s latest creation.

Popular automotive YouTube channel, Auto Express, recently gave us a special ‘behind-the-scenes’ look at the Honda Civic Type R concept in Belgium.

Some lucky fans were invited to tag along for an exclusive first look at the new car. And while our invitation must have gotten lost in the mail, we do have this video to watch. (more…)

Tel Aviv set to test out world’s first hover cars

Now this looks like something straight out of a Sci-Fi movie or The Jetsons.

Over the past couple of months, the word ‘hover car’ or ‘hover board’ has garnered a lot of attention. Something that people initially thought would be impossible to pull off, is now making big waves in the automotive, science and technology industry.

Let’s face it – as humans, we have a weird (yet wonderful) fascination with anything that flies; or in this case, hovers. We have seen to in films and read about it in novels, so the idea of actually developing a flying/hovering car is one that would appeal to many.

And now it seems that Israel’s busiest city will be one of the first cities to test out an actual hover car system.  (more…)

Google builds their own self-driving car

Google Self-Driving Car

You may have heard the news already, but perhaps you didn’t believe it – because it really is almost unbelievable.

While we have heard of Google’s Prius powered self-driving cars before, we have not been well acquainted with their very own, ‘built-from-scratch’ self-driving car. This is mainly because it was only shown to the public for the very first time last week.

The mega tech company invited a handful of everyday, normal people like us to witness their very first prototype of their self-driving car in action. And needless to say, the people there (as well as us) were kind of blown away. (more…)
