Purrari

Ferrari makes beautiful cars, this we know. And it is (of course) very evident that they are very proud of the beautiful cars they produce. However, they have also made it clear that they do not take well to people, albeit Ferrari owners, making a ‘mockery’ of their cars.

The Italian automaker has lashed out at famed electronic music producer, Deadmua5, after the DJ wrapped his Ferrari 458 Spider in a somewhat unusual wrap.

The Deadmau5 Ferarri, which he dubbed the ‘Purrari’ was wrapped in a Nyan Cat theme. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Nyan Cat, it is an internet meme that exploded all over the net and is seen as somewhat of a pop culture sensation. It’s basically just a pixelated cat, flying through space, leaving a trail of rainbows behind him… yes, we know that sounds ridiculous.

Ridiculous or not, Deadmua5 thought it was a great wrap for his Ferrari. But Ferrari didn’t agree at all.

Ferrari’s lawyers actually sent Deadmau5 a cease and desist letter about the ‘decorations’. However, according to Deadmau5, what they felt most offended by was the custom ‘Purrari’ badge and floor mats that the DJ put in (and on) his car.

Deadmau5 subsequently had the wrapping removed and put the car up for sale for $380 000.

It wasn’t long before another automaker – namely Nissan – also jumped in the Purrari bandwagon and offered Deadmau5 a custom Nissan GT-R sports car – complete with Nyan Cat themed wrap.

The company showed off their creation o Twitter and encouraged Deadmau5 to rather go for the Nissan Nyan Cat. way to see the funny in this situation, Nissan!

Whether Deadmau5 takes Nissan up on their offer or not, we’re pretty sure he won’t be looking into buying another Ferrari anytime soon!
