Ford Mustang sent to space in celebration of 50th Anniversary

Well this is one way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famous Ford Mustang – and it’s pretty out of this world (pun intended).

A group of friends – and undoubtedly heavy Ford enthusiasts – decided to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang in a very unusual way. The group, from the Big Valley Ford Dealership in California decided that they would like to commemorate the momentous occasion by sending a 2015 Ford Mustang into space.

Ok, to be fair, it’s not a life-size 2015 ford Mustang, but rather a small replica of the famous car. However, small or not, the experiment delivered some amazing footage.

Attached to a high altitude balloon, the model sized Mustang made it’s way up where very few Mustangs (or any other cars for that matter) have gone before. The video shows the Mustang shooting up into the sky until it is high above the planet surrounded by darkness and breathtaking views.

But, justas all high altitude balloons, the Mustang doesn’t hang around in space for that long and soon the balloon pops and the Mustang is send pummeling back down to earth at an incredible speed.

The footage is truly amazing and the idea to send a Mustang into space to celebrate the 50th anniversary is just as incredible. Big ups to the guys from Big Valley.
