A US radio broadcaster Jerry Lee who bought an Aston Martin DB5 for $12,000 back in the day, now intends to sell the car, once driven by the famous James Bond in movies like Goldfinger (1964) and Thunderball (1965), through the RM Auctions group. And he is expecting to fetch a minimum of £3.5 million. The auction is slated for October 27, 2010. Jerry will use the proceeds of this auction for the Jerry Lee foundation which is an initiative dedicated to solving poverty related concerns. Though a 1964 model, the DB5 is still a great attraction as it features a bullet-proof windscreen, machine guns, revolving number plates, a passenger ejector seat and even an oil sprayer.
For those out of the know, the new Aston Martin One-77 is a limited edition supercar — only 77 units slated for production. As exclusive as it may sound, 10 of these scorching speedsters have been ordered by some crazy fanatic hailing from the middle-east. That is surely a whopping order as the guy is paying $17M for 10 units and the speculation is that each of these 10 cars will get a unique exterior color and cabin. The new Aston Martin One-77 features a 7.3-liter V12 engine capable of producing 700bhp, and can hit a top-speed of 355km/h.

Aston Martin wanted to make its presence felt at the 80th Geneva Motor Show and accordingly it decided to raid the event with two special editions along with their new customization program. The first special edition model is dubbed the DBS UB-2010 and it marks the completion of 10 years for Dr. Ulrich Bez, the Aston Martin CEO.
Finished in Azurite Black paint, the DBS UB-2010 gets metallic bronze leather finishing along with Cryptic Titan trim and special sill plates marked by the Bez production. The DBS UB-2010 will be limited to 40 units, 20 of which will be Volantes while the other 20 will be Coupes. The second special edition model is the V12 Vantage Carbon Black. The limited edition model features a rare metallic paintjob which required 50-man hours of hand painting, something which is complimented with carbon fiber side strakes, and black diamond turned alloy wheels. Aston Martin is also using the Geneva event to showcase Works Service Tailored – a bespoke styling program.
In March 2010, Aston Martin is set to release two new models for their Aston Martin DBS — the new Carbon Black and the V12 Vantage Carbon Black Special Edition. They’re hand painted in a special Carbon Black metallic, feature an Obsidian Black leather and silver stitching interior, carbon fiber and Kevlar seats for a lighter build and a piano black trim. As for the V12 version they add a carbon fiber side strake, black mesh, elegant 10-spoke alloy wheels in gloss black and a 700-watt audio system. Price, you ask? About 5-percent more on the Aston Martin DBS and the special edition models are yours.
Crazy German tuners from Wheelsandmore have decided to make the Aston Martin DB9 convertible even more badass than it is and got it tuned up, here and there. Performance wise the new custom made Aston Martin DB9 convertible gets an ECU upgrade, special 200 cells sportcatalysts and a valve controlled, stainless steel exhaust system that boosts power the stock 6.0 liter V12 engine by 60hp, to a total of 536hp. On top of being fast, the supercar also looks aggressive thanks to a special polyurethane bodykit with contending stylish sideskirts, aprons in the front as well as rear, a rear lid spoiler and a set of stylish Kahn RS-V 20-inch wheels. Looks amazing but when we think that Wheelsandmore will charge €5,999 for the wheel set, €9,000 for the body kit, €8,800 for the exhaust system, €3,400 for the ECU upgrade and €1,150, we’ll have to pass on this one.
The brand new Aston Martin Rapide, which debuted at the Frankurt Auto Show, proves the luxury line has a car for every discerning consumer. The Rapide boasts extravagant leather upholstery, walnut trim, and four individual heated seats — standard for such a vehicle. Other features include a GPS navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, a premium Bang and Olufsen BeoSound audio system with iPod compatibility and one-button expandable luggage capacity. Added to the powerful 6 liter V12 engine is a six-speed Touchtronic 2 transmission and an independent double wishbone suspension. Don’t let the elegant interior or the 5 door exterior fool you, the Rapide has the heart of a sports car and an acceleration of 0-60 of 5.1 seconds to prove it.
A 2009 Coventry University graduate has put in some renderings for an eco-friendly Aston Martin he dubs the Volare Concept. It looks like James Trim wants to run his two-seater luxury sports car on a center mounted high-power fuel cell stack in tandem with a rear-mounted battery pack. The front wheels are powered by coaxial electric motor and there are a couple of hydrogen tanks over the rear axle which ensures optimum weight distribution. Some traits of the Aston Martin DBS are also present especially the plunging roofline. Despite the use of alternative fuel, the fantastic sound and outright performance associated with the Aston Martin Brand is kept intact by the designer.
We definitely loved our modern day commuters but something that always stays as an overhang is the admiration for vintage beauties. Reliving the glorious era by recreating the cars of the past is quite a fad and this time it is the Phoenix, Arizona based Ritz Auto which has given in with the recreation of the Aston Martin DBR2 Racer. The design stays ‘almost’ the same but the exterior, chassis and the engine have undergone the grind. Ritz Auto has chosen state-of-the-art carbon-fiber tub in combination with aluminum honeycomb monocoque chassis that weighs an astounding 220lbs only. This feather like feel has been further graced by carbon-fiber body panels lined with Nomex.
What’s more is the addition of the Aerogel (NASA developed), a heat insulator being used in a road-going automobile for the very first time. These cars are understandably custom-built and you can let Ritz Auto know your engine specifications. You get o choose anything from the Jaguar-derived inline-six and V12 engines to a Corvette LS3 V8.
