2012 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG 1

Most of you already know that the 2012 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG is slated to compete with the likes of Porsche Panamera and the Audi A7, what you may not know is that it was spied testing in Nürburgring. The 2012 model is very close to hitting the production floor and a good indication of that is the prototype loosing its veil on the test circuit in Germany, where most of the cars are found heavily clad. The commuter is looking very aggressive and sporty and gets blessed with LED running daytime lights. From what we’re being told the 2012 four-door Mercedes CLS 63 AMG is getting an all-new 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine that will churn 536bhp and it will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. It will go on sale in Europe as early as next year. [via WCF]

New BMW X3 2

Veils will definitely be taken off the next generation BMW X3 at this year’s Paris Motor Show if not earlier given the testing stage its prototype has reached. The next-generation X3 was spotted doing rounds in the streets of Munich Germany and the prototype looked almost production ready. Compared to the current generation model, the X3 slated to arrive in the future is a tad bigger. The X3 will be a powered by a number of engine choices which include the regular 3.0-liter six, a turbocharged version of the same unit and a diesel option which might hit the market sometime later after the petrol variants get introduced. Porsche Panamera

As part of its drive to expand its product range, Porsche is currently known to be working on development of a new saloon/hatch vehicle. The new car, called the Panamera, is allegedly to use the 8 cylinder 4,5L mills that currently do service in the Cayenne range. Also mulled for inclusion is an Audi-sourced V10 – initially, the V10 from the Carrera GT was tipped as the range-topper, but production limitations are said to have precluded it from inclusion. Smart costing Daimler Chrysler billions

Published by on Jun 18th, 2007, 4 Comments

The German newspaper Handelsblatt is reporting that Daimler Chrysler spent R40 Billion on the smart brand in the four years. Even tough, Daimler doesn’t report profits or losses for Smart brand, they say that the german newspaper came up with the figure after obtaining the information from liquidated Smart in Germany.

This of course is nothing new to us, as Mercedes has reported over and over again that they are losing money with the smart brand. That is basically one of the main reasons they’ve decided to enter the US market. Let’s hope the coming years will bring the smart to a profitable point. Smart hasn’t really taken off on our shores with poor sales figures for the last two years dispite South Africa being in a car buying boom.

Some net-savvy spy guy snapped some pix of the wreck which revealed nothing, nothing much left of the uber super car. We crawled the web and got this clip of the action.
