Mercedes-Benz tuning specialists Carlsson have joined forces with international leather-lifestyle brand Etienne Aigner to develop the Carlsson Aigner CK65 Eau Rouge model. Made in an exclusive small series, the luxury coupe based on the Mercedes-Benz CL produces over 700 bhp (522 kw) and 1,100 Nm after being reworked by Carlsson.

The engine conversion by Carlsson includes a special electronic control unit with special maps for injection and ignition. On the intake side, sports air filters ensure optimum aspiration. On the outlet side, a stainless-steel sports exhaust system with high-performance metal catalytic converters and sports silencers cut back-pressure to a minimum. Another measure to boost engine performance is improved intercooling, which reduces charge-air temperature. Following the nine hour hearing at the FIA headquarters in Paris, the World Motor Sport Council have changed their original verdict and now find McLaren guilty of the charges of industrial espionage. The Working-based team have had their points stripped away and excluded from the 2007 campaign, and they have also been fined an unprecedented $100m (the largest ever imposed in motor sport history). The news comes as a shock to Formula One fans the world over, and of course also means that Ferrari have just about become the 2007 constructors champions, even though four races are still to run.
The WMSC has stripped Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of all constructor points in the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship and the team can score no points for the remainder of the season.
Furthermore, the team will pay a fine equal to $100m, less the FOM income lost as a result of the points deduction.
However, due to the exceptional circumstances in which the FIA gave the teamâ€™s drivers an immunity in return for providing evidence, there is no penalty in regard to driversâ€™ points.
Over the past three decades Brabus has perfected the art of transplanting large and extremely powerful engines into the bodies of small cars. That path led to numerous world records and entries into the Guinness Book of World Records. The Brabus Bullit, built in small-series production based on the new Mercedes C-Class sedan, celebrates its world debut at the IAA 2007 as the ultimate wolf in sheepâ€™s clothing.
At the heart of this supercar Brabus placed the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo engine. The implantation of the 6.3-liter engine into the confines of the W 204 series body is yet more proof for the superiority of Brabus know-how. The turbocharged twelve-cylinder engine delivers 720 bhp of superlative power and 974 lb-ft of superlative peak torque.
The performance figures for the Brabus Bullit place it into pole position in its class: The car sprints from 0 â€“ 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, reaches 124 mph after just 10.49 seconds and shatters the 186-mph (300 km/h) barrier after a mere 24.5 seconds. Top speed is more than 224 mph. There are only a very few super sports cars in the world that can hope to match these numbers.
All-in-all, this is one serious motorcar. Massive engine, massive brakes, massive power… any way you look at it, this thing is fast…
Mercedes-Benz has launched series production of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan in its plant in East London, South Africa. Thabo Mbeki, President of the Republic of South Africa, visited the plant on Thursday to celebrate the production start and investments into the new facility. Together with the President, Rainer SchmÃ¼ckle, Chief Operating Officer of the Mercedes Car Group, Dr. Hansgeorg Niefer, Chairman of the Management Board of DaimlerChrysler South , Joachim Follmann, East London Plant Manager and numerous stakeholders gathered at the plant to commemorate the occasion.
Mercedes-Benz has announced the C 63 AMG Estate which will be shown in Frankfurt. It has also released 7 high resolution images of its new super-sports station wagon.
As anticipated, the Mercedes C 63 AMG Estate features the 6.2-liters V8 engine magnificently engineered by AMG in Affalterbach with a power output of 335 Kw and 600 Nm of torque that drives the rear wheels through an AMG 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission. The C 63 AMG Estate accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). Sales will start at the beginning of 2008, with a price of 69,853 â‚¬ (incl. VAT, no RSA price yet).
Mercedes-Benz is to launch an all-new mid-engined supercar called the SLC, to rival the Audi R8 and this was further confirmed after spy photographers caught a mule disguised as a longer wheel based Dodge Viper, in some Californian canyon country side recently.
This super-coupe will be developed by AMG and tweaked and tuned by HWA (Hans Werner Aufrecht), which will also build the car for Mercedes at its facilities in Affalterbach. HWA was the motorsport division of AMG prior to Mercedes-Benz taking a major stake in AMG, and has since been independent. It has been running the team for Mercedes in the DTM German Touring Car Championships and it is quite successful. HWA is also now tipped to take over from McLaren as Mercedes’ new partner in the development of upcoming top-end supercars. HWA does have some serious credentials in motorsport as they have a large history with AMG. HWA also have been creating cars for FIA GT1 motor sport as well. Back in 1999, DaimlerChrysler acquired AMG, renaming it to Mercedes AMG GmbH. In doing so, they effectively separated HWA from AMG developments. This left the 170+ employee firm with independence over its products. Such freedom has let HWA produce phenomenal cars such as the the very limited edition CLK GTR roadster in 1999.
McLaren, on the other hand, looks likely to develop a new supercar of its own as well, funded by profit from its successful Formula One enterprise and billed as a natural successor to the Gordon Murray-designed McLaren F1.
The nextlooks to have some big changes on the way. In addition to a radically redesigned front-end — comprised of a big ol’ new grille and CLS-style boomerang headlights–the new SL’s AMG package will get what the folks at KGP are calling the “increasingly prolific” 6.2-liter V8 engine. The engine, when packaged with Mercedes’ 7G-TRONIC seven-speed transmission, generates 465 lb-ft. or torque and 525-horsepower in the S63 AMG and in the C63 AMG, the same set-up provides 457-hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. The KGP spy shooters expect the new AMG “Sport Leicht” to be endowed with power ratings closer to the S-class, although their sources report “packaging restrictions” might limit those power numbers a wee bit.
Top Gear has gotten the chance to review a car that will not likely see the light of day, but we can say with certainty that a lot of its new ideas will find the way to many of the future Mercedes models. TGâ€™s first impression of the car is great, saying that “the Ocean Drive has more potent sex appeal than all of the gravel-voiced rockerâ€™s Rod Stewart wives and girlfriends put together.”
