Porsche will soon start accepting orders on their 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid. The car is expected to go into limited production in 2013. The company believes that they can begin production of the vehicles by September 2013 at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
Did you know that European-market version of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid, goes by the name of Opel Ampera? Expected to debut next month at the International Auto Show in Geneva, spied pictures of the Ampera prototype just leaked online and from what we see it looks like a production ready five-door hybrid. A damn good looking one. Using GM’s “Voltec” plug-in hybrid system that is powered by a full-time electric motor with a small gasoline engine/generator, Ampera is expected to range up to 500 miles (800km). Definitely in love with the sleek and stylish design, all we know for now is that it’s expected to go on sale from 2011. Now that’s some real competition for Toyota’s Prius, isn’t it?
