Bentley is on road to creating a rival to the Aston Martin Rapide. The upcoming entry-level four-door coupe is said to be modelled along those lines and is likely to be positioned on a platform just a tad below the Continental and Mulsanne. Apart from the Rapide, the Bentley innovation is seen as gearing up to take on the Maserati Quattroporte and Porsche Panamera.
For some time now I’ve been reviewing SA startups and I get to see all kinds of marketing strategies. Here’s another one.
Do you remember January when we’ve seen the first Aston Martin Rapide spy shots? The company never commented on the matter but they did something better. They tested one on the race track and some MotorTrend photographers got their hands on some beautiful pictures of it. This is cheap marketing, highly targeted and obviously highly effective.
The car that was supposed to be released in 2010 looks like a production ready vehicle and if the rumors are true it could hit the floor in October in Paris, this year. How cool is this to have a V-12 engine with 480 hp that looks like that.
The new Aston Martin Rapide will fight for supremacy with the new Porsche Panamera, but will probably be more expensive. They plan to sell 3,000 to 3,500 units a year while Porsche will go up to 20,000. Who will win?
