BMW power for all seasons

For BMW buyers who wish to soak in as much sun as possible this summer without losing the marque’s hallmark performance and handling, the company has an offering to fit the bill to a tee. The German auto maker is no stranger to engineering convertible cars of the highest quality, and after such icons as the 330Ci Cabriolet and the Z4, one might have wondered how such winning packages could be improved upon. However, in BMW AG’s typical perfectionist tradition, they have once again raised the bar with an extremely well engineered and desirable addition; the 335Ci Cabriolet. (more…)

Brabus M-Class

BRABUS has taken the wraps off of a special M-Class that goes one step beyond the comparatively staid models offered by Mercedes-Benz. Though based on the range-topping ML63, all that you see on what BRABUS calls the Widestar Concept is available for any model in the range. The transformation begins with new body kit pieces that add a healthy does of aggression to the M-Class, but don’t go overboard with cartoonish proportions. The design is highlighted by the extra wide fender flares that give the Widestar its name and also make room for large 23-inch BRABUS Monoblock E wheels. The German tuner also provides new front and rear fascias that look different but equally as good as the stock fascias. We especially like how the body kit is colored in a matte grey finish that contrasts with the glossy black finish of the vehicle underneath.

Of course, all of that eye candy only serves to back up what BRABUS does best, which is tune Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The Widestar is fitted with the company’s B63 S performance kit that adds freer flowing air filters, new engine management software and other detail-oriented performance upgrades to boost power from 510 hp to 550 hp. Likewise, BRABUS upgraded the brakes to scrub off all that extra speed. Up front the stock brake system is replaced with mighty 12-piston calipers, while the rears make do with six pots, all clamping down on larger discs.

Brabus SV12 S Biturbo Roadster

Published by on Feb 6th, 2007, No Comments

The Mercedes SL-Class is set to continue its long success story after the latest product update. The Brabus engineers and designers have left no stone unturned to make the roadster even sportier and more exclusive. Equipped with the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo twelve-cylinder twin-turbo engine that delivers 730 bhp, the SL 600 turns into the world’s most powerful roadster. 0 – 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and 124 mph after just 10.9 seconds speak to its prowess as does its top speed electronically limited to 217 mph.
More power by increasing displacement is one of the core philosophies behind the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo engine. The displacement of the twelve-cylinder three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters with the help of a billet steel crankshaft, larger cylinder bore, special pistons and piston rods. The conversion also includes re-machining the cylinder heads and fitting them with special camshafts.

The peripherals of the twin-turbo engine also play a large role in the engine’s power yield. The Brabus engineers have also developed a completely new turbocharging system with two larger turbochargers and more efficient intercoolers. Metal catalysts with low back pressure let the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo displacement engine breathe more freely.

Autostyle Quad Gear

Remember this post and don’t say you never knew.

Quad Protective Gear.

Up here in Joburg’s wild wild West Rand we all love spending our sunday mornings quad biking in the minedumps. From 6am trailers are being towed to and from various locations with young and old getting dirty.
As fun as all that its, its not fun having an arm put in a cast or getting a dozen stitches on your elbow.

Autostyle Motorsport now stocks an exclusive and affordable range of Quad gear, the globes start from R100 for a regular suede, lycra & rubber finish to R150 for the same finish but with added carbon fibre knuckle protector. Lastly the upper bodysuit is a must have and at R595 is an absolute bargain. Specially placed plastic cups are there to prevent dislocated joints and padded chest & arm areas let you land on anything you can think of. The back area has a huge plastic caterpiller like plastic arch which our suppliers say is a Godsend if you fall on your back.
