It seems that Audi has finally decided to bid adieu to the trademark side blades as the R8 5.2L V10 Sypder was snapped ‘secretly’ without those blades on view. The 5.2L V10 Motor under the rear deck is capable of churning 525 HP but, this might be there only for the launch as the 4.2L V8 will hit the production floor. This Teutonic Ragtop will have performance figures similar o those of The R8 Coupe with a slightly lowered top speed which is understandable. It was being hoped that the car would be launched yesterday during Audi’s Centennial celebration but now the debut is slated for the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. [via Jalopnik]
The Frankfurt Motor Show this fall will see the debut of the new 2011Audi R8 Spyder along with its 525 hp 5.2 liter V10 engine that gets mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox or an optional R-tronic automated transmission. The 420hp version with the 4.2-liter V8 fitted to the standard R8, is slated for a later release. Audi, we reckon, doesn’t want to hurt sales of the current A8 in China, Europe and the U.S. and/or doesn’t want a new version overlooked at such an important auto show as Frankfurt. Artist Idreis Noah, formerly of the GM Holden Australia design team has come up with a design of his own for the BMW M. And it’s a beaut! Just add water to the Audi R8 he says. The artists said details were “inspired by what’s called in surfing terms ‘a Barrel or Tube’. It’s where the wave is hollow when it breaks.”
Rushing water rolls over the wheels, cues on the door and flows into the side air intakes which sit on the protruding rear wheelbase. Consistent with BMW’s design paradigm the new model must be “Aggressive, Sleek, Agile and totally different from anything on the road today.” And give it a 5.0 liter V10 to boot and you are good to go.

The Razor GTR was initially unveiled at the 2008 Essen Motor Show, but the new PPI R8 Razor GTR will be a step up from what we have seen earlier. Set to make its grand appearance at the Top Marques Show in Monaco, the car will be taken for a test drive on the Monaco Racing Track and one sure hopes that its 580hp engine with maximum torque of 600Nm and a top speed of 332km/h puts on an impressive show out there. The changes on the R8 include a carbon fiber, aluminum and titanium in order to reduce weight and improve performance, better aerodynamics and new interiors prepped up using Onyx Nubuck leather highlighted in orange. The 13,998 euros tuning package adds a compressor to the whole deal, making the beast pump nothing less than 530 horsepower. But it’s not only about power, because it features a braking system with 8-piston calipers at the front, 6-piston ones at the back, and high-performance pads. If all these are not enoguh and you still have more of those hard earned greenies, Wheelsandmore will add an aluminum race suspension for 3,999 euros or a 8,949-euro hydraulic lift full-race suspension, a 5,500 euro front lip spoiler and rear diffuser (carbon fiber) and two sets of 20-inch alloy wheels ranging from 9,250 to 9,800 euro. Audi has come out with a scorching hot new promotional video for the R8 LMS and the video shows the 500 hp V10-powered force on wheels thunder ahead and burn some rubber on racing tarmac. The car is loaded with a six speed sequential gearbox for complete control and the makers are so confident of its ability that the car will be part of Formula GT3 races next year with customers as its drivers. The video promo of the €262,000 dream machine on wheels should surely rope in a few more deals for Audi, not that they are short on deals anyway- Watch!
No, you’re right. Audi R8 doesn’t need many changes to look even more amazing than it does, but when they can add to the Wow-factor … then they should. Exactly what Project Kahn did. With a lower suspension and some 21-inch badass F1-X lightweight carbon fiber rims, you’ll get that beautiful monster above. We’re not sure about the engine or if they’re going to work on it, but for the moment the company said “You do not need to worry about the engine.” Guess the 4.2 liter FSI, 414 hp (309 kW) V8 stays! – via WCF
