Ford dreamed of it for long and finally the blue oval has managed to get an amazing EPA rating of 40mpg on the highway. The car that did the trick for Ford is the 2011 Fiesta and the latest EPS numbers suggest that it gets 29mpg in the city as well. Compare those numbers with the Toyota Yaris (4mpg lesser) and the Honda Fit (5mpg lesser) and we easily have a class leading commuter in the Ford Fiesta 2011. The US version of the Fiesta is powered by a 120hp1.6-liter Duratec four-cylinder engine and it comes with either a manual five-speed or a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission, the latter option being the one to fetch those EPA numbers. Expected to arrive at dealerships this summer, the 2011 Ford Fiesta will bear a price tag of $13,995.
UK admirers of the Ford Fiesta will get to savor a limited edition model of the Fiesta dubbed the Fiesta S1600. The limited edition model will adore the classic Ford color configuration with blue double stripes against a white body or vice versa. Another specialty will be the 17-inch white alloy wheels for the petrol version and 16-inch for the diesel. Talk about engine choices and the limited edition will feature a 1.6 liter Ti-VCT Duratec with 120 PS petrol and 1.6 liter TDCi with 95 PS diesel optons. The S1600 is readily available and it costs £16,665.
Monster World Rally championship is all set to welcome a new beast for the coming season-Monster Ford Fiesta-and it sure is an able contender. Dubbed the Monster Ford Fiesta rally car, it is based on the race winning European Rallycross Fiesta which was prepared by Olsbergs Motorsports Evolution. The beast is powered by a turbocharged 2.0L Duratec engine which can render 490hp at the max but the rally specified turbo-inlet restrictor restricts the output to 330hp. The monster is slated to compete in seven Rally America events and it will be Ken Block who will get behind the wheel in the Monster Fiesta.
We don’t know much about the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb on July 19, but we have a passion for fast cars. Cars that have something to say about themselves. And that beautiful orange Ford Fiesta is just the thing we needed. Customized by Sweden’s Olsberg Motor Sport Evolution team, the beast is powered by a high performance 2.0-liter Duratec engine that outputs more than 800 hp to an all-wheel drive system and a unique Rallycross sports suspension. A great example of perfect tuning, right? [via WCF]
We’re closer and closer to Geneva Motor Show in March and new models keep on coming. Ford just sent a press release in, letting us know that they plan to show off the next generation of Ford Fiesta. Europe is going to get it later this year, while clients in America or Asia will have to wait until 2010.
It has the common features with Ford’s Verve concept, a spacious interior and comes with three and five doors. It’s going to be built at the Cologne plant and in Valencia. Though we don’t have much detail Ford promises “big car features” so I guess we’ll have to settle with some pictures before we know more about performances.
