The Hyundai Veloster would be making its debut in January at the Detroit Auto Show. Hyundai’s Veloster is a compact sports model that is reportedly putting itself in the some market as Volkswagen’s Scirocco. Based on information received, the car will be powered by a 1.6 liter, direct-injection gasoline/petrol engine producing 122 PS (90 kW/121 hp) and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) of torque.

A 1.6-liter turbocharged unit is expected to follow this first offering, which will have a more robust output of 177 PS (131 kW/175 hp).

It is also being rumored that the US version of the Veloster’s 1.6 engine will have 138 bhp (103 kW) and 123 lb-ft of torque (167 Nm). These reports also reveal that the 2012 Accent from Hyundai will make its debut at the New York Auto Show.
