It’s called the ‘Morning’ in South Korea. The fully-redesigned second generation 2012 Kia Picanto has been premiered at Geneva. Compared to the earlier models in the family, the new Picanto boasts of more cultured character and sports a bolder design.

To be rolled out as a five-door globally, and sportier three-door body for Europe, the 2012 Kia Picanto comes a charmer with an bolder front bumper, sweptback headlights, flame surfaced doors, side skirts, tail lights and a roof spoiler. Lovely design lines and sporty alloy wheels add to the Picanto charm.

A worthy contender in the sub-compact city car segment, the car will launch during the fag end of 2011 with four super-efficient engines, including a 1.0-liter three-cylinder, available in petrol, flex fuel and bi-fuel versions, as well as a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol.

The car maker says that the engines will return 69 (51 kW / 69 hp) to 85 PS (63 kW / 84 hp), while torque could be anything between 94 (69 lb-ft) to 121 Nm (89 lb-ft).

The 2012 Kia Picanto will also come with a 1.0-liter bi-fuel engine that would produce 82 PS (60 kW / 81 hp) and 94 Nm (69 lb-ft) of torque. The car will boast of CO2 emissions in the levels of 95 to 105 g/km or 90 and 100 g/km with the optional engine start/stop system.
