Volkswagen has announced their New Midsize Sedan (NMS) on the eve of the Detroit. Auto show. The vehicle will be called the Passat in North America. The vehicle features a spacious cabin with Touareg-inspired instrument cluster, premium chrome accents as well as best-in-class legroom.

All the three trim models available come with a host of facilities such as automatic climate control, power windows, cruise control, outside temperature display with frost warning and Bluetooth connectivity.

Apart from these, it is also equipped with power seats, leather upholstery, GPS navigation, wood trim, ambient lighting, and keyless access with push button starting.

Three engines are available. The entry-level 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine produces 170 hp (127 kW / 172 PS) and 177 lb-ft (240 Nm) of torque. 3.6-liter V6 produces 280 hp (209 kW / 284 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque.

The third one being the 2.0-liter TDI produces 140 hp (104 kW / 142 PS) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque.

2012 Volkswagen Passat will go on sale later this year with a price tag of $20,000.
