Porsche will soon start accepting orders on their 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid. The car is expected to go into limited production in 2013. The company believes that they can begin production of the vehicles by September 2013 at Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
As if in a bid to push up sales of the limited edition beauty, the car maker will also look at bundling the 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid with the special edition 911 Turbo S. That could mean that buyers who would place their orders for 918 Spyder can also look at buying the limited series 911 Turbo S too as a coupe or cabriolet.
The 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid will be offered at prices starting at $845,000 in the US. Potential; buyers in Europe may have to part with around €645,000.
The 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid is expected to be incorporated with a mid-rear mounted V8 displacing more than 4.0 liters producing around 500 PS (368 kW / 493 bhp). The car will come with dual electric motors – on each axle – and that will return 160 kW / 218 PS to the total output total.
