It seems Opel fans have some good news. Recent reports indicate that Opel will launch its new Calibra in early 2013.
Though no official announcement has come from the company, Autoblog.nl claims to have obtained documents regarding the same. The leak says that the car will be based on the Insignia model and will be manufactured in GM Europe’s International Technical Development Center in Russelsheim.
A rear-wheel drive is obviously out of the context. However, it could be equipped with all-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 engine. The V6 engine returns 321 horsepower (239 kW / 325 PS) and 321 lb-ft (435 Nm) of torque. Calibra’s style is expected to be a combination of Opel’s GTC and Flextreme GT concepts.
As you know, GTC is an Opel concept car which was speculated to be a hypothetical Opel Vectra, while Opel Flextreme GT is a diesel plug-in hybrid concept car created by Opel.
