It seems there is no change in McLaren’s strategy of introducing a new product every year. This time McLaren comes up with a road-going variant of the MP4-12C GT3 racer. As no official announcement has come regarding the road-going variant, we can only draw out the features from the standard MP4-12C.
The standard MP4-12C features a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with an output of 600 PS (441 kW / 592 bhp) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. It can hit up to 330 km/h (205 mph). The car can accelerate to a speed of 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds and 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds. It could be further enhanced to 3.1 seconds and 8.9seconds respectively with the Corsa tires.
However, the power expected to be offered by the new variant is still in speculation. The recently announced MP4-12C GT3 racer gets 100 less horses than the standard model (500 PS / 368 kW).
McLaren plans to build 20 copies of the MP4-12C GT3 racer, at $512,000 each. Probably, the British supercar maker will be launching its second new model in 2014 and a third sometime in 2015-2016.
