Finally, Volkswagen has officially unveiled the much awaited Polo R WRC. Polo features a 1.6-liter TSI engine and is equipped with an all-wheel drive system. The TSI engine is able to develop approximately 300 PS (221 kW / 296 hp). Back in May 2009, Volkswagen had presented its previous model of Polo also in Sardinia.
Perhaps, it is Volkswagen’s entry into the World Rally Championship, which marked a new commitment. An official release from the company said that they look forward to face the WRC challenge and are already working on the project with the same passion with which they won the Dakar Rally in the past three years.
With three car corporations already involved in the championship and global media coverage, the WRC offers an attractive, highly competitive environment for Volkswagen. No wonder, Volkswagen is on road to develop the rally vehicle Polo R WRC by 2013.
