Some recent reports indicate that Volkswagen Beetle R is all set to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Have a look at the pictures below.
The model is expected to feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with approximately 240 PS (177 kW / 237 hp). If so, the output will be less than the Golf R’s 270 PS (199 kW / 266 hp) but more than the 200 PS (147 kW / 197 hp) offered in the Beetle Turbo.
Further, the variant comes up with front-wheel drive, a sport-tuned suspension and the usual styling tweaks.
Though no official announcement has come, we have been hearing rumors that a Beetle R convertible is also under consideration.
