Shortly after annulling the Altima hybrid, Nissan is likely to come up with a redesigned model soon. The variant will be available as a hybrid that features a four-cylinder engine, a CVT transmission and an electric motor, powered by a lithium-ion battery.
As we already reported, Nissan has axed the production of the Altima hybrid citing the reason that the car used Toyota hybrid technology. Reports have suggested that it will eventually be replaced by Nissan’s own hybrid system, debuted on the Infiniti M35h recently.
Now, all those reports seems to come true as the new model is expected to adopt a hybrid system based on the one used in the Infiniti M35h.
Meanwhile, the consumer interest Nissan Altima created has not been promising either. For instance, Nissan were able to sell only 35,000 Altima Hybrids since 2007 in US.
However, let’s hope the redesigned variant fills the vacuum.
Stay tuned.
