A tweet has brought to us refreshing news from the Fiat USA workshops. The US subsidiary of the popular automaker has plans to storm the LA Auto Show with a North America-specific 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth.
We don’t expect too many differences in this Abarth edition, compared with the European version of the same vehicle. As you all know, the standard Euro-spec version comes equipped with a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that provides up to 140 PS (138 bhp / 103 kW) and 206 Nm (152 lb-ft) of torque.
However, we have no official word from the Fiat subsidiary on whether the Euro-spec configurations will be imitated by the Abarth when it lands stateside. There are chances that this one could be a unique American edition.
We anticipate the Fiat 500 Abarth to debut around late 2012 and go on sale for a starting price of around $19,000.
