This is some awesome stuff. We hear BMW’s four-door Gran Coupe based on its 6-Series will arrive in our midst sometime during 2012. An exclusive report by folks at Motor Trend says so.

The 6-Series Gran Coupe will sport the same wheelbase as the 5-Series at 116.8 inches/2967 mm. But still, the vehicle will be 3.5 inches/89 mm shorter than the 5-Series at 54 inches/1372 mm, and wider too, at 74.9 inches/1902 mm which is more like a 6-Series coupe/cabrio model.

In the case of length specs, BMW is expected to will outdo its market rival, the Mercedes-Benz CLS, by 2 inches/51 mm and come in at 197.1 inches/5006 mm.

Although this four door coupe is characterized with unusual frame-less door windows, it will still have a B-pillar. The weight of the car has been reduced with the deployment of aluminum in the doors and bonnet. Also, special plastics have been used on the boot lid and front fenders.

To be offered with xDrive all-wheel-drive system , the 6-Series Gran Coupe will come with power train configurations that will duplicate the current 6-Series units now available.
