Having already expressed a desire to build a vehicle that has a 1960s Microbus style, Volkswagen has gone ahead and done just that with the Bulli concept. The new vehicle concept was recently shown at the Geneva Auto Show as a part of its Heritage series.

The concept Bulli had originally been shown as a six seater car with an electric engine but we hear the production model will be a five seater featuring a conventional engine. It’s believed that production will begin at the Volkswagen plant in Puebla, Mexico and is rumoured to launch in 2014.

The concept car features the original two tone paint colouring that pays homage to the original samba bus and even has the distinctive ‘V’ on the front bonnet as well as 18-inch alloy wheels and chrome hubcaps.

It was also shown with a removable iPad in the center console that serves as a multifunctional touch screen which we are hoping they will retain in the production model too.

Stay tuned for 2014.
