According to recent reports a convertible version of the new Mercedes A-Class is on its way. The model is the latest edition to a new line of compact car models from Mercedes and has been designed to compete with the Audi A3 Cabriolet, BMW 1 Series Convertible and VW Golf Cabriolet.
During a presentation at the launch of the B-Class, Mercedes CEO, Dr Dieter Zetsche, announced that five new compact cars are in the works over the next few year. Four of the five models have already been revealed and the A-Class Cabriolet rounds up the lot.
Under the hood, in addition to a 1.6-litre petrol turbo and a 1.8 diesel, the A-Class range will get a sporty turbocharged 200bhp 2.0-litre petrol motor. A soft top is expected to reduce weight and costs.
