Mercedes Benz has announced that it is replacing the current SLS AMG with a new and improved version named the SLS AMG GT that will be available in Germany in October, followed by the U.S. in November.
The new version that will be available in both a Roadster and Coupe will see improvements in its power output, transmission, suspension and completely reupholstered interior with minimal changes to any exterior styling.
Exterior changes do include red painted break calipers and a high gloss black finish for the radiator grille frame, exterior mirrors and fin blades on the hood. The AMG logo on the right of the luggage lid will also have the “GT” letters added.
A reprogrammed ECU, results in a maximum output increasing by 20 HP (15 kW / 20 bhp) to 591 HP (435 kW / 583 bhp). The SLS AMG GT can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and onto 200 km/h in 11.2 seconds.
“Improvements to the electronically controlled AMG Ride Control Performance Suspension (previously named AMG Ride Control Sports Suspension) include double aluminum control arms in all four corners and stiffer spring/damper tuning. The “Comfort” mode setting has been deleted while “Sport” mode is recommended for every day driving with increased suspension travel. “Sport plus” provides the stiffest settings for sporty driving on smooth and level road surface such as a race circuit.”
