If you are looking forward to the new Transformers movie, then here is just another reason to get excited.

Michael Bay, the director of the latest installment in the Transformers series, Transformers 4, has unveiled the latest addition to his alien robot cast.

The new ‘character’ takes shape in the form of a 2014 Freightliner Argosy cab-over semi-truck – or at least it is based upon that.

This new cast member seems to carry a veil of mystery over it. It’s dark colouring and ominous look contributing to the mystery of what mind of robot it is bound to be.

Bay has previously revealed a Western Star Truck as the Optimus Prime character, so the new, dark addition will not take centre stage. Bay has also unveiled a 1967 Camaro SS – that will be the bumblebee character, a Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse, a C7 Corvette Stingray and Pagani Huayra sports car.

All of these previously revealed characters are all Autobots, so the general idea is that the ominous Freightliner is quite possibly a Decepticon. However, no confirmation has been made, so we will have to wait for the film to find out.

Transformers 4 is started filming las month already and Paramount Pictures are planning a release in almost exactly a year; 27 June 2014 to be precise.

We will keep an eye out for any on set photos for the next 12 months, to see where this deliciously dark character fits in.

The fourth installment of this popular series stars Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer and Nicola Peltz.
