Range Rover sure knows how to get people talking about their brand, if this video is anything to go by!
Range Rover recently organized a rather unique, yet terribly thrilling, off-road challenge featuring their all new Range Rover Sport.
The latest Range Rover is set to make it’s official debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week.
Surely to create some hype around it’s debut, the new Range Rover took part in a duel with a classic, 1945 Vickers Supermarine Spitfire, to see which one is “the real off-road master”
The race was a straight drag run up and down a grass airstrip at the Goodwood Aerodrome. The race was also punctuated by a nasty and quite difficult, U-turn.

It might seem like a futile attempt for the Range Rover, as the Spitfire boasts a 1750-hp V12 Merlin engine. This of course ensures the Spitfire a take-off speed of 130km/h and a whopping 643km/h airspeed!
The Range Rover Sport, on the other hand, has a 510-hp, supercharged V8 engine. Range Rover’s latest creation clocked in at an amazing 209km/h at the turn, which actually made the race pretty close.
The race was head-to-head right down to the finish line…
